Your adventure in Egypt
Here are the most recommended places to visit, ordered from Cairo heading south:
Cairo: Khan El Khalili Bazaar and the Coptic Quarter.
Giza: The Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Quseir: Coral reefs in the Red Sea.
Luxor: Valley of the Kings, Luxor Temple, Karnak, Avenue of Sphinxes, Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, Colossi of Memnon, Temple of Ramesses III, and Valley of the Queens.
Edfu: Temple of Edfu.
Abu Simbel: Temple of Ramesses II and Temple of Nefertari.
What to visit and in what order will depend on your time and budget. Here are two sample itineraries with different styles:
5-Day Itinerary: Fly into Cairo to visit the city (Bazaar and Coptic Quarter), visit Giza (pyramids and museum), travel down for the wedding (2 nights), head to Luxor from there (though 1 day will feel a bit short), and fly back from Marsa Alam, Hurghada or Luxor. This option is ideal for independent travelers.
10-Day Itinerary: A Nile River cruise. This is the most comfortable but also the most expensive option. It takes you to all the temples along the Nile starting from Cairo (sleeping on board the ship at night) and can go as far south as Abu Simbel. There are many tour options with fewer or more days, allowing you to book the wedding days either at the beginning or the end of your trip. This option must be booked through a travel agency.

A few tips
Temperatures will be high, but the climate is very dry. At the Red Sea, it is not as hot as inland. We recommend sightseeing early in the morning and resting during the middle of the day.
Always carry water and stay as hydrated as possible. Wear light, comfortable clothing in light colors, and do not forget your sunscreen, hats, or caps.
